Key of She is six talented and accomplished musicians singing a cappella, and as you can gather from the title, Our First Time is their first recording. A year after their founding, Key of She won the coveted prize of "Audience Favorite" and 2nd Place honors at the 11th Annual New York Harmony Sweepstakes, the a cappella world's competitive battle of the voices. Singing for a capacity crowd, the “dynamic six” mesmerized the audience with their smooth jazz, classic rock, comedy, and high-energy salsa. Upon completion of their 10-minute set, the ladies were given a standing ovation, and their ballot box was stuffed to overflowing.
After that, Key of She opened for Ray Charles and his orchestra at the Union County (NJ) Arts Center. That opener, which garnered an enthusiastic audience response, followed a year of performances at venues like Philadelphia's Annual Paradigm Award Luncheon, Phoenixville PA's A Cappella Jam, New Hope's Bastille Day Celebration, Philadelphia's Annual Women of Distinction Awards Dinner, Princeton Friends School's "Frolic," and Newtown, PA's Annual First Night. The group also entertained diners at the Hopewell Bistro and Failte's Coffee Shop in Hopewell, NJ and performed at private parties in New Jersey, Connecticut, Long Island, Maryland, and Pennsylvania.
According to a local reporter, "The six women from Central New Jersey serve up a cappella à la mode in a style that is smooth, sweet, and sultry. Key of She is just plain fun! They’re great entertainers, and always, underlying everything, serious musicians." Key of She's sound is deep and rich, and their harmonies are tight. They sing everything from Cole Porter to Shania Twain and Bob Dylan. Their songs are arranged exclusively for them, mostly by their own she-ranger, Sue Jaques.
