Contrasts is a sweeping blend of harmonies and voices which lifts you to ecstatic rollercoaster highs and then plunges you into sombrely moody reflection.
My first foray into music took the form of piano lessons at age 8. I guess the idea was to see if I would fold under the pressure of intimidation, because my piano teacher was straight out of Germany. Not only did she slap my hands with a ruler, but she used to place a pencil across each hand when doing scales. If the pencil fell off, it meant redoing ALL scales from the start. Let\'s just say I became a past master of the \"C\" scale :-)
After attending my first rock concert ... Black Sabbath ... the piano, and classical music, was forgotten in favor of bass guitar. Somewhere along the way I was also taking trombone lessons and playing in a jazz band. Hmmm... Are you starting to get the picture? Can you say eclectic?
Years of playing original music in rock bands finally culminated in a kind of fusion of everything I loved in music, namely Big Band. This genre gives me a chance to explore orchestral voicings and arrangements, jazz chordings, and the gutsy drive of synthesized voices.
My first CD was \"Contrasts,\" released in the year 2000 (well, late 1999 anyhow). Right now I\'m busily at work on recording a bunch of Big Band style songs. People tell me these are all songs in search of a soundtrack. Are you Indie Filmmakers listening???
